Grandmas Old Fashion Oatmeal Cookies
Quick oatmeal cookies
Servings: 2 dozen, large
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups quick oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup shortening
- ½ cup buttermilk or sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F, Mix dry ingredients together. Melt butter and shortening and mix with dry ingredient. Mix in milk until just combined. Don’t over-mix or oatmeal may turn to mush. Using a cookie scoop or large spoon, drop scoops about 2 inches apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Flatten by pressing cookie balls down to roughly a quarter inch thick with a fork dipped in flour or just use your hand.Bake 12 – 18 minutes until edges turn golden brown. For a crispier cookie bake at 350°F for 20 – 25 mins or until edges brown
Additions for Oatmeal Cookies
Take your cookies up a notch by adding a half cup of raisins, dried cranberries, chocolate chips or nuts of your choice.
